Overview
Here’s an overview of how we learn at Tabithas Kids Early Years Centre
Tabithas Kids Early Years Centre follows the British Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (EYFS), that is enriched with principles of Reggio Emillia and The Curiosity Approach.
Our teachers are trained and experienced to guide children through various learning areas.
Our teachers and child minders consistently provide children with the support they need to achieve their early learning milestones.
Lessons are hands-on and interactive, designed specifically with the appropriate age and developmental level of each child.
Our curriculum strives to support children to grow to become independent, while helping their development across all areas of learning. This includes physical development, personal, social and emotional development.
We are focused on the holistic development of children to ensure their foundation is right for primary school.
OUR AGE GROUPS
Our classes are broken down into age groups below:
The Little Learners is where the babies are encouraged to roll and crawl while the older babies learn to walk and attempt to feed themselves.
Play is provided to stimulate interest and promote active exploration.
As the child crosses from the Tiny clouds infant room to the Building blocks age group, child-initiated play is encouraged. Focus is given to development of language skills and fine motor skills, enabling children to move about confidently.
Our staff observes the children regularly, offering constant support. Potty training is normally typical during this year and our staff concentrate on helping the children become independent at routine jobs.
Children are most receptive to new information when they reach this age and it is the perfect time to inculcate independence, a love for learning and role-play.
Children within this age group will begin to set the foundation of listening skills and phonics, writing and helping them have an understanding of basic science concepts.
In this age group, learners begin to learn more about phonics, develop early blending skills, early addition skills.
Free flow into secure outside play areas, messy play, music, cooking, and creative crafts are some of the key activities utilised at this stage.
The children in this age will become fluent readers before leaving this class. They will be reading age appropriate books.
Numeracy skills for this age group includes introduction to multiplication through skip counting.
We encourage them to discover the world how they see it, to find the part that they play in it and to learn exactly what they are capable of.
Through personalised lessons following the International Preschool Curriculum (IPC) we provide extensive support for the children’s intellectual, physical and emotional wellbeing giving them the skills and knowledge needed for Primary School.
TRACKING PROGRESS
Our educators employ differentiated learning to suit each child’s individual development stage.
We closely monitor and track the child’s progress, providing parents with regular written assessments of their child’s accomplishments and attainment against the Early Learning Objectives of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Principles and Framework.
At the age of two, we provide a complete progress check with consultation and input from the parents.
Our checklist provides parents with a clear picture of their child’s development and enables early identification of development needs, as well as appropriate intervention and support strategies.
